Homer in Sunset Valley

Book II. 3

First thing the next morning, the party began, and ‘calling to dance’ was deployed in the garden with a stereo set up, catching guests before they even walked in the door. Emma’s formal needed fixing, as lovely as it was. I took her into the Master Controller’s stylist.

Homer took her aside as she transformed in the blink of an eye. Agnes Crumplebottom approached, dressed in her Into the Future formal, wishing that he had picked her very self before she’d gotten old …

“Are you ready?” Homer asked Emma, “Shall we get married now?”

Trying to keep to what seemed to be her intended personality and style, I made Emma a meringue style dress ‘Ruffles! Dress’ from the Homecoming range, changed white, and the beads on the bodice were customisable, so they were to a very dark almost black purple, similar to her dress before, and adding an Into the Future necklace and some drop earrings with those same colours, instead of the netted choker she had. She kept her bracelet and hair, and her boots, but white.

The whole street was able to view the wedding, but just a few were invited. They danced to the stereo and began to get cued to gather around the Sunlit Tides wedding arch.

Homer and Emma waited patiently while the guests argued and shoved over the four seats that could fit on the large rug with the cake table. This also happens with plenty of seating and so it may as well only be four.

Finally, they mostly resigned to standing, except for Mother-Helen, and old Jared Frio.

“Oh … Emma” Homer began, “I promise you Emma Hatch that I will provide an active household life for you, have a family with you, help you fulfill your Life Time Wish and take you with me on all of my adventures that you want.”

The guests clutched their hearts, listening to his promise and being envious of her.

“I will fit this gold ring on your finger, Homer Atreus and become your wife, so that we can have an active household life together, do everything I’ve dreamed of, make you as happy as I can and help you with your adventures and wishes.” Emma promised.

“Aw” said Homer goofily.

They kissed as the love petals fluttered down from the wedding arch and the game announced them married.

And then Emma changed into her everyday. Right before the household choices came up, she’d gotten a ‘great party, going home’ thought bubble and the game said she needed to be elsewhere soon, meaning work. So, her next thing to do was going to be to change into her work outfit, but I cancelled out all of those things on her becoming an active household member. And Helen implored her –

“Not yet! There’s cake to do first.”

So she changed back into her wedding dress and made a speech at the cake, while Ethan continued to throw confetti.

Then Helen herself changed for work.

Then Emma did, or did she? I’m not sure what outfit that was.

She drove there in her black Big Lemon.

Hilda brought Chauncey Landgraab a slice of cake. He was Malcolm’s younger brother. He counted his Neurotic personality concerns first. Hilda thought she might like to become a Stylist when she grows up, and fix up people’s outfits.

“Thank you Hilda. I was worried the colour would clash with my jacket, but it looks nice with your dress” he said. Over her shoulder he could see the lights on in the house and wanted to check them.

Halfway taking it inside to eat, he put it down, said “Great party” and went home.

Most of the rest of the guests also went home after leaving their cake. They all said they had a good time though. While the stragglers were finishing their cake or getting around to leaving, and staying in the garden or kitchen, and while Emma would’ve been a short while to get home for their wedding night, Homer, I, thought it a good moment to build their extension, rather than move out to a bigger lot or even a new town just yet as there was still some potential with this lot, and it was comfortable there.
