“Now that I’ve got my Jock influence back up a bit, I wanted to tell you some good news” he began.
“Oh?” she asked suspiciously, glaring.
“In fact I wanted to invite you, you’re such a good friend” he pressed on, “I’ve met someone, here in my town, just like you will in your town when you graduate, the wedding’s this weekend, and I want you to come, but Tiffany I can’t move on while there’s a heart between us. Can we be just friends?” he asked her, wishing he was wearing better armour than an apron.
“Graduate?” she blasted out, throwing her hands in his face.
“Ghoh!” He stumbled back.
“My town?” she blasted again, “What town Wilfred, what town!” she demanded, “I’m a university pre-made! I don’t have a hometown like you, I’ll never graduate, never leave that place! And after I broke up with Brendan Kavanaugh for you, and you never called me again, while I could have at least been having story progression snogs with him!”
“Did any of that mean anything to you?” she eyed him up and down, as the negatives burned steam into the rain.
“Of course it did” Wilfred pleaded, “I kept thinking about it, and you at the restaurant when I was reviewing the Goopy Carbonara, because you’re so sophisticated, like Nancy Landgraab, she loves it, so does Lliana Langerak and some sophisticated guy is going to come along and snap you up, and I’m going to remember that every time I eat it”
“Tisk .. words words words” Tiffany dismissed his efforts.
“That’s just it” he implored her, “Words is all I’ve got, that you inspired in me when I wrote those novels, and you deserve someone who can give you more, and they will Tiffany” he promised.
“You think so?” she asked glumly, then she straightened up and smiled.
“Yes” she said to herself, “because I’m famous now because of your books”
“They’ll be flocking” he agreed.
“I better get back before they miss me” she realised, “Good luck with your wedding”
