Homer Tries to Date and his Parents Achieve Tops.

Back at home, prom was coming up for Homer, which he wanted to go to before heading off to boarding school until he grows up into a young adult.

Boarding school has some benefits. One is increasing the starting pay at a new job, although it still starts at level 1. They also gain a random skill. One of my sims in the past gained the Foosball skill. They also get a different graduation gown to the blue high school gown, a different one for each boarding school.

The main benefit for my game, while it was on the laptop was reducing the number of sims in the household for a little while. The age spans in my game are set to ‘long’ with the teens at 40 days, young adult 52, adult 60 and the elders only 50. Elders get extra days after having done well before their elder birthday anyway. In this case I was hoping the elders would be helpful with the children and maintaining the house, and then expire early enough to relieve pressure on the game, and make room for the next generation.

Homer had gained plenty of regular skills to make his adult life easier. Its nice to wait until having the prom and having a nice photo, which seem to appreciate in value quite a bit, especially if displayed around the house. Its also fun to see if the game matches them up with anyone interesting during the dance. When my sims in the past have had close friendships or new romantic interests, or prom dates, the game has matched them up closer, sometimes as much as going steady. So my sims see what happens if they become friends with this sim and that one.

Homer continued his friendship with Darlene Bunch and it seemed as though she was his fan. She would visit autonomously, but he was often out gaining skills, so he’d rush home to greet her.

Time would go by fast and their friendship only gained small amounts.

He said to her one evening “You keep wearing my favourite colour purple”, admiring her.

“No, the other day it was more like mauve and dusty plum, and today I’m wearing … fandango” she quipped.

Kaylynn came to visit. Already tired and didn’t stay long. Homer was friends with her though, but if she had romantic intentions, she was already involved with Miraj Alvi, also Homer’s friend and front-door neighbour.

Towards his Life Time Wish of Seasoned Traveler, and also because he’d picked Adventurous as a trait for his teen birthday (and Brave as a child I forgot to mention), he worked on his Martial Arts skill, able to since they brought a training dummy and board breaker back from Shang Simla. It automatically gave him spectacles as part of his outfit even though he doesn’t have them in any of his other outfits.

He had an idea to visit Bella Bachelor. They were good friends and spoke as though they were a regular crowd, hanging out.

After all his efforts, none of his teen female friends were matched up with him at prom. The babysitter, who was somehow still a teen at the school – the long teen life span, Homer’s early birthdays after achieving enough skills quickly, and so she must have only just still been a teen – Candy Ashleydale was matched up with him.

He left for boarding school straight after, and no pictures were saved from that time. He chose Dribbledine Sports Academy to pursue a Sports career first as a young adult when he graduates, and whatever the game offers after that. He doesn’t need a specific career since his LTW is Seasoned Traveler.

Dardanus reached the top of the Science career. It was not his Life Time Wish, which had already been fulfilled at University, but it was still cool!

He was very pleased with himself. He would have a cool uniform, crazy hairdo, experimenting capabilities, and the family were going to be earning some great money.

Helen also reached the top of her career a day or two later, at night. That was her Life Time Wish. To reach the top, level 10 of the Culinary career with a title of 5-Star Celebrity Chef. Its not certain whose picture is on the door of the diner, but it does look like her, probably only because of the hat.

Helen has a Dramatic trait, but we missed her big reaction to the promotion and achievement. But the choral fanfare rang out to mark the achievement, which we heard and we swung our attention there quick enough to catch the $7,000 bonus kindly hanging in the air for a few seconds next to her.

And Helen certainly remembered it, with sparkles.

In her new uniform she looked like Miss Maude. She and Dardanus improved the house, especially in preparation for a big party.
